The 3rd annual James Connolly Festival opened today with “An Evening With Big Jim Larkin”.
The week-long festival, hosted by Socialist Voice in association with The New Theatre, aims to promote progressive culture and to facilitate debate surrounding current and contemporary politics. This year the festival commemorates the centenary of the Russian Revolution.
Musical highlights include Rónán Ó Snodaigh (Kíla), duo Mat Callahan and Yvonne Moore, Ross Breen, and “Left hook – a night of anti-fascist music and poetry”. There will also be theatre, film showings, and a book launch, as well as lectures and debate, including “The Left Debate”, a live panel discussion on the topics of war, water, housing and Brexit. Prof. Greg Godels (Zoltan Zigedy), joint founder and editor of “Marxism-Leninism Today”, will give a lecture on “The Russian Revolution: Its Continued Relevance”.
