Rallies to Repeal the 8th Amendment took place in Dublin, Cork, Galway and Kerry today.
The objective of the rallies, which were organised by the Coalition to Repeal the Eight Amendment, was to call on the Government to implement the findings of the Citizens’ Assembly.
Speaking ahead of the rallies, Ailbhe Smyth, Convenor of the Coalition, said they were calling on Taoiseach Leo Varadkar to “stand by his commitment that there will be a referendum on the Eighth Amendment in 2018”.
She said: “We are calling for a date to be set for early 2018. There can be absolutely no further delays on this issue, and we will be holding the new Taoiseach to this commitment.”
