The Dáil and Seanad are closed up for the week but that doesn’t mean that nothing is happening in Leinster House. Ned O’Hara of the Irish Postmasters Union will be in the Communications Committee speaking on the viability of the post office system.
Away from Leinster House, former Minister for Equality Aodhán Ó Ríordáin is hosting an Irish Stand (named after Ó Ríordáin’s viral speech) on tackling the far right in Ireland this evening.
On Tuesday, ROSA has organised a socially distanced demonstration End Gender & Police Violence – Stand Out @ Spire. It’s in solidarity with women protesting the horrendous murder of Sarah Everard and the fact that the European Fundamental Rights agency report that 83% of women are restricting their movements and lives because of fear of sexual harassment and violence.
Several groups have organised events for the International Day for the Elimination of Racial Discrimination on Sunday 21st.
Bray for Love will be on Facebook live at 4pm on Sunday to formally launch the Bray for Love mural, painted by Holly Pereira, and to discuss racism.
The Sligo Traveller Support Group has put together a panel from 7pm. Speakers include Owodunni Ola Mustapha (founder of the Ballyhaunis Inclusion Project), Rose Marie Maughan (human rights activist), Vukasin Nedeljkovic (Asylum Archive), and TJ Hogan (East Cork Traveller Project). Everyone who attended the Group’s International Women’s Day panel has been raving about it so we look forward to seeing this discussion.
