The 50th anniversary of the death of Seán O’Casey, playwright, communist and Irish Citizen Army member, was marked with the unveiling of a plaque in the East Wall area of Dublin on 2nd November 2014.
The event, organised by the East Wall History Society as part of its history week 2014 began at the local Seán O’Casey Community Centre with a procession led by a members of the Laurence O’Toole Pipe Band, which O’Casey helped establish. The plaque was unveiled outside 25 Hawthorn Terrace where O’Casey lived as a young boy.
